Why did you choose Creighton University?
I was looking for the right fit. I wanted a great academic institution that competes at the highest levels of D1 baseball. I also wanted a situation where I would have the opportunity to play early. I have a brother with special needs so if I had the chance to be closer to home, that was important to me also. After visiting Creighton and spending time with the staff, I knew Creighton would be my new home. They will compete every year to win the Big East and have the opportunity to play in the NCAA tournament.
What makes you excited about your future in college?
Creighton University sits at the heart of college baseball in Omaha, NE. The University, City of Omaha and the State of Nebraska are investing heavily in facilities to support that. Obviously, they play home games at “The Chuck”, but they just finished a new on campus practice stadium and before I arrive on campus they will complete the new team facility attached to the practice stadium with new locker rooms, lounges, hitting facility, etc., as well as The Bill right across the street that will house a new indoor/outdoor two level strength and conditioning center and dedicated athlete dining hall. I firmly believe Creighton’s baseball facilities will be on par with the best in the country.
Why would you recommend SportsForce to other student-athletes or parents?
Baseball is hard and in this new era, baseball recruiting for HS players is just as hard to navigate. Having someone in your corner who lives in this space, has a network to leverage and is constantly ensuring they are up to date on the latest changes and in turn keeping you educated is invaluable. Could a family do it on their own? Of course. However, I think you run the risk of leaving something on the table. With the opportunity I’ve been afforded by Creighton University, and with the help of Mr. Olla and SportsForce, I feel I left nothing on the table.
What was your recruiting journey like before SportsForce?
College athletics is obviously in an era of change and that is having a huge impact on high school recruits and just recruits in general, whether coming from a JUCO or the Portal. Prior to working with Mr. Olla and the SportsForce team, trying to navigate that changing landscape was like wandering through a forest alone, just not knowing which direction to head to find your way out.
What did your personal recruiting advisor do that made a significant impact?
When the recruiting window opened on August 1st, I was fortunate my recruitment moved pretty quickly, but I believe it was everything that Mr. Olla did in preparation for that. We identified what was important to me (academics, competing at the highest level and a chance to play early). Once we established that, with SportForce’s technology we were able to easily identify our target schools. Once August 1st came, our approach was much more targeted because we had a strategy.
